Ceanothus ‘Concha’

Concha ceanothus (Ceanothus ‘Concha’) is a reliable, fast-growing shrub valued for its year-round appeal and striking spring blooms. It produces a dense display of cobalt-blue flowers that attract butterflies and bees, making it an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly gardens. Its dark green foliage remains lush throughout the year, adding structure and color to landscapes even when not in bloom.

Growing to about 6 feet high and wide, concha ceanothus has a dense, upright form. The shrub matures quickly, often reaching its most impressive bloom by the third or fourth year. However, flower production may taper off over time, and the plant is often short-lived outside of California’s central coast. It thrives in full to part sun and is adaptable to various soil types. Once established, it is highly drought-adapted and should not be watered, as excess moisture can shorten its lifespan.

Concha ceanothus is a versatile and hardy choice for coastal gardens and slopes, offering beauty and ecological benefits with minimal maintenance.
