Ceanothus ‘Skylark’

Ceanothus hybrid. Ceanothus ‘Skylark’ is a good choice for small gardens. This lush green, compact Ceanothus thyrsiflorus cultivar is a good choice for small gardens. It is slow growing to 3-6 ft tall with 5 foot spread. Dark blue flower spikes appear in spring and again in fall. Plant in full sun. If soil and drainage are less than ideal, plant Ceanothus rootballs a little higher than the surrounding grade. A favorite of butterflies and pollinators. Grows best in sandy, coarse-grained or other fast draining soil. Prefers sun in coastal sites, and part shade in inland sites. Introduced by Mitch Nursery of Aurora, Oregon. parentage is thought to be C. thyrsiflorus var. thyrsiflorus x C. velutinus.
