Crocanthemum aldersonii

Alderson’s rush-rose (Crocanthemum aldersonii) is a low shrub in the Cistaceae or rock rose family. In the wild, it is found in Southern California and Baja, Mexico, on chaparral slopes and canyons at elevations up to 4,000 feet.  The leaves are blade-like, the yellow flowers  cup-shaped or flat-petalled, blooming in spring.

It should be noted that there are many non-native varieties of Cistus that are commonly available in nurseries; almost all are commonly called Rock Rose or Sun Rose.
