Parry’s Larkspur (Delphinium parryi ssp. parryi) is a beautiful native perennial herb that grows in southern and central California. It most often grows at elevations from 700-5600 feet in the Peninsular, Transverse Ranges, South Coast ranges. In the drier parts of it’s range, it grows most often on north facing slopes, and in partially shaded areas underneath scrub oaks or other larger shrubs.
This is a difficult plant to find in nurseries, but not too hard to grow from seeds. It’s striking blue flowers bloom in late spring and early summer.
