Ericameria palmeri

Palmer’s Goldenbush (Ericameria palmeri) is a native shrub that grows in Southern and Central California, primarily in the South Coast, the Channel Islands and Sonoran Desert regions. It was formerly classified in the genus Haplopappus, and some sources may still refer to it by that name. There are two recognized varieties, var. palmeri and var. pachylepis  It tends to grow in flats and slopes, at elevations from 0-2600 feet. While not the most attractive plant, it has wildlife value and is probably best suited for restoration projects or wildlife gardens. Its very late bloom time when little else is in flower makes it important for pollinators.
