Eve Case coffeeberry (Frangula californica ‘Eve Case’) is an evergreen shrub with dark red branches and dense dark-green oval leaves. The greenish flowers are not showy, unlike the attractive berries which turn red, purple, and finally black over the summer. Coffeeberry is a fairly common plant native to California and southwestern Oregon. This variety is smaller than others.
The berries attract a variety of birds.
Coffeeberry is easy to prune. This variety makes a great and fire resistant clipped hedge. Due to its small size, it is a good choice for pots or containers.
