California Wood-sorrel (Oxalis californica) was formerly known as Oxalis albicans ssp. californica. It is a low yellow-flowered perennial, similar to non-native oxalis species that are highly invasive but the flower is a softer shade of yellow and may be tinged with red in the center. This plant in the oxalidacae or wood sorrel family is native to coastal sage scrub and chaparral and montane chaparral and woodlands habitats in Southern California, the Channel Islands, and northwestern Baja California from sea level to 6,000 feet.
It may be grown from seed and flowers from April to June.
