Sidalcea neomexicana

Salt Spring Checkerbloom (Sidalcea neomexicana) is a rare native perennial herb that grows in southern and central California. It is moderately fast growing and moderately long-lived. It grows in an upright form to a height of 2.5 feet, with active growth during the spring and summer. Flowers are purple and striking, and bloom in the mid spring. Leaves are medium green and deciduous. It tends to grow in alkaline springs and marshes, at elevations from 0-4900 feet.
